    FAQ

    Can I buy a ready-made AUSTRAC-registered company?

Yes. Dealable24 lists Australian companies already registered with AUSTRAC as virtual asset service providers, independent remittance dealers, or both. Since 31 March 2026, the Virtual Asset Service Provider Register has replaced the DCE register, and existing DCE registrants became registered VASPs automatically. The registration stays with the company through the sale.

How long does it take to buy an AUSTRAC-registered company?

Up to a month in a typical deal. In most cases the registration changes hands without prior regulator approval: after closing, the company updates its details with AUSTRAC within 14 days and continues its AML/CTF program without a gap. AUSTRAC can request additional details depending on the case. The new owner takes over the compliance officer role or appoints one.

Do I also need an ASIC license to run a crypto business in Australia?

AUSTRAC registration covers AML/CTF obligations. ASIC’s separate licensing for digital asset platforms under the Digital Assets Framework Act starts on 9 April 2027 and applies above volume thresholds, so a platform buying now has time to plan an AFSL application alongside.
